Experience
I like to tutor because I like to teach, and I like to work one-on-one because I can monitor every aspect of the student's progress. Right now, I tutor a native Spanish speaker in English. I stress pronunciation, speaking, conversation, writing, vocabulary and culture. I tailor each lesson according to the student's needs. I use flash cards, news articles, poems, journals, and conversation topics that interest her. I give interactive and relevant homework assignments, and I make learning fun. In the past I have taught Spanish reading, writing, and translation to a native English speaker. I have also taught trigonometry and statistics. I have taken courses in phonetics and phonology, so I know how to teach pronunciation; journalism and writing, so I have great editing skills; and Spanish language, literature, linguistics and translation. I spent a semester perfecting my Spanish in Argentina, and I have a broad knowledge of history. I am also experienced with teaching students with disabilities, especially dyslexia.
